Corpus Christi Community Church is a medium-sized church, in the City of Saint Mark, population just under 250,000 in the Canadian Province Micallef. The church has on average a weekly attendance of 275 people and two full-time ministers, a part-time youth minister and a full time Administrative Assistant/Church Office Manager. The Church’s Board has decided that they need a brand-new website. The original church website was a HTML website built in the early 2000 and was upgraded to a web based contact management software system around 2010 – 2012, no one can remember when. Although the website has had several facelifts since then a lot of the content and information dates back to the original website. You have been hired by the church to help them design a new website and let them know what content the website should have. The first thing you have been asked to do is write a write an 6 to 8 page report in which you evaluate the websites of three churches incorporating the information provided in Lynn Babs’ paper on rhetorical analysis of congregational websites and Melissa Smith’s article on how websites are a under used communication tool. To do this you need to identify what content and elements you like and do not like on these websites and why it should or should not be included in the new website. What works and what does not work on each site? Explain why or why not each website you look at is an effective or ineffective website? What similarities and differences do these websites have?
Are the websites being utilized properly or are they really confusing? Who do you think each church website is aimed at? What are the rhetorical elements used on the websites? What does each website you examine have that is really good or really bad? Regardless as to whether you currently go to church or not would you attend a service at these churches based on their website? In writing about the church websites that you examine, begin by identifying the church and explain whether it is a small, medium, large, or mega-church. Generally speaking small churches have one full time minister, a medium-sized church usually have two or three ministers, large churches have 3 to 4 ministers, and a mega-churches have more than five ministers. In your report you should look three churches each of which is of a different size. You cannot chose two of more churches of the same size. Also the church has to be from different metropolitan areas. In other words you cannot have two churches from the Greater Vancouver area. However you can chose one church form the Greater Vancouver Area and Abbotsford. (You instructor would like to see your three church from three different provinces but this is not a requirement) Finally, one of the websites you examine must come from the following list: Small Church: Westminster Presbyterian Church – http://www.wpchurch.net/ (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. Medium Church: St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church – https://www.standrewscalgary.ca/ (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. Large Church: Westview Baptist Church – https://www.westviewbaptistchurch.ca/ (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. Mega Church: Foothills Alliance Church – https://www.foothillsalliance.com/ (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. NOTE: This is an academic research paper.
