Fusion – the return: Rusi Taleyarkhan and “bubble fusion” Working at Purdue University (USA) in 2002, the Russian nuclear physicist Rusi Taleyharkan claimed that fusion reactions occurred in collapsing bubbles in a mixture of benzene and acetone, when subjected to ultrasound waves. No-one has confirmed the results, and in July 2008 he was found guilty of scientific misconduct by the University. Was this decision correct, or was he simply guilty of (honest) misinterpretation of results?
