This is a research paper, not a report. Simple facts are important, but they appear in your paper to support a greater point — your research. For example, a research paper on Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu would analyze some element of his films (maybe it’s something your brought from your studies) and not just report and when/where he was born and a list of his movies and how some of them got made. Another example: your paper is on the representation of a race or gender over time in movies.
